Provision of visual arts for HPFT buildings
An exciting new project is putting locally produced art on view in our buildings, the project sources, buys and frames art created by local people in Hertfordshire with a lived experience of mental health and specialist services. Interested artists are sent forms and guidance including the budget limit and themes for the project: Hope; Choice; Empowerment and Resilience.
An art panel made up of representatives from service users, staff, young people, carers, the University of Hertfordshire, artists and art therapy meet and select from the submitted pieces, creating a catalogue for services to choose from. The art collection includes over 400 pieces of art by over 100 artists. The collection comprises: paintings, prints, photography, poetry, drawings and collage, and can be seen in HPFT’s community hubs, in-patient areas, rehabilitation units and the Trust’s head offices in Hatfield. The art will be rotated around many of the buildings so people see a change. A public exhibition of some of the art was recently held at University of Hertfordshire.
