New look for Albany Lodge in St AlbansA major refurbishment, providing extra facilities to promote recovery, has been completed at Albany Lodge - the inpatient mental health unit in St Albans. The Trust has just completed an upgrade of the building in Church Crescent, which opened back in 1994.
A completely new multi-purpose activity area with exercise equipment encourages service users to improve their physical health and the art and craft area has also been expanded in a new dedicated space.
All 24 bedrooms and the bathroom areas have been completely refurbished to address plumbing and damp problems and all the communal areas have been fully redecorated, giving the whole unit a brighter feel. Outside a second courtyard has been opened for service users for the first time, and the central courtyard area has been replanted.
Dr Geraldine O’Sullivan, HPFT’s Medical Director, spoke at the re-opening of the building. She commented:
This is a substantial package of improvements, which has created a safer and more attractive environment for care and recovery. I am sure patients and staff alike will feel there has been an impressive improvement in the Albany Lodge environment. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in achieving these changes.”
