Changes to service user transport services
03 Oct 17 - 01 Jan 01
Private Ambulance Service, the company which runs non-emergency ambulances and takes our service users to and from hospital, has closed down.
The Clinical Commissioning Groups, which buy in services like this, are working with a number of different organisations so that patients can continue to use the service to attend medical appointments.
We’re trying to keep disruption to an absolute minimum, but the service will have to prioritise service users who are at high-risk, so those who are attending cancer appointments, dialysis, or being discharged from hospital, will be given first priority. This means that some more routine appointments may be cancelled at the start of the week, until the new service is fully operational.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience or distress that this causes.
If you are concerned, please contact the hospital or the place where you have your appointment. Alternatively, if you can arrange your own transportation to your appointment, we would advise you to do so this week.
We will provide more information about the new service as soon as details are available.
If you have any problems, please call the Transport Helpdesk on 01727 897484.
