Making strides to fitness
22 Mar 17 - 21 Mar 18
Staff at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) pulled on their running shoes and jogged 5km around Verulamium Park in St Albans as part of a challenge to improve their fitness.
In January, the Health and Wellbeing Team at HPFT challenged employees to improve their fitness through the parkrun programme, which organises runs across the globe.
It began with the Couch to 5km training programme over nine weeks. Employees were encouraged to then sign up to their local free parkrun and complete their first timed 5km run.
There were 37 HPFT staff who took part in the St Albans run on Saturday 18 March - and 112 in all across HPFT who will be completing parkrun events in areas served by the Trust.
Laura Capper, Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator at HPFT, said: “As well as helping people to get fit, this has helped to promote a sense of togetherness in the workplace.”
