Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team
Six Crisis Assessment and Treatment (CAT) Teams operate across Hertfordshire and offer a service to those people who are in crisis because of their mental health and who would benefit, in other circumstances, by being admitted to hospital.
The teams’ role is to provide crisis resolution and home treatment. The teams act as the gateway into hospital and can help facilitate an early discharge by providing additional support to people in their own homes.
In some areas there is access to crisis accommodation, where people can stay for a short period of time if they are unable to stay in the family home. The teams operate seven days a week and can be accessed via the local Community Mental Health Team.
There is an out of hours service which can be contacted by professionals, such as your GP or the Emergency Duty Team.
People who are currently receiving a service from the team will be given a telephone number for their team to contact in case of emergencies.
