The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve, or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. Find out more information here.
Signing of the Armed Forces Covenant
We were proud to sign the Armed Forces Covenant on 15 March 2023.
What is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.
The Covenant Legal Duty is a legal obligation on certain public bodies (including local authorities, governing bodies of certain state schools, various NHS bodies, and other organisations) to have due regard to the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant when carrying out certain functions in healthcare, education and housing.
HPFT is proud to be a Veteran Aware healthcare provider.
The Veteran Aware mark highlights NHS trusts which have made a series of pledges around sharing and driving best practice in NHS care for people who currently serve or have served in the UK Armed Forces and their families.
The accreditation process was overseen by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA), who work to make sure that people from the Armed Forces Community are not disadvantaged in terms of access to and outcomes of healthcare, as a result of their military life in line with the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.
Veterans and Military Families
We encourage veterans and their families and carers to let us know if they are currently serving or have served in the Military or have links to the British Armed Forces. Find out more here.
