In Essex we deliver services for people with learning disabilities as well as IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Services) services.

We provide  a wide range of talking therapy treatments for adults with common mental health problems. For more information about these services go to: http://www.hpft.nhs.uk/services/community-services/healthy-minds-west-essex-iapt/

We also provide an inpatient service for people with a learning disability who are so unwell they cannot be treated in the community. Our multi-disciplinary teams – made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, art therapists and qualified learning disability nurses - work with service users and their families to provide the care they need safely and therapeutically.  We also provide learning disability (LD) services across the whole of Essex offering mainstream and specialist LD health care.

As a county, Essex offers miles of countryside and open space. There is easy access to 350 miles of coastline – as well as the world’s longest pier at Southend! The county is one of huge variety. The border with London is fairly densely populated, and the South Essex Thames Gateway is an area of real economic growth.

This southern part of the county is very different to the large rural areas of mid and north Essex – where  almost 75% of the county's land area is rolling farmland.

The county offers good schools. Travel links to London and the East of England are excellent and include airports at Stansted and Southend.
