Occupational therapy: we have a number of development posts that support newly qualified staff. Starting on our Band 5 full-time or part-time rotation scheme, staff can experience different specialities across different teams, gaining valuable expertise and refining their skills whilst developing a broad knowledge base. A perfect foundation for career development.

Here is what some of our Occupational Therapists had to say about their roles in the Trust:

Belinda - OT Apprentice

Belinda started the OT Degree Apprenticeship program recently with the University of Hertfordshire while continuing to be employed full-time as an Advanced Assistant Therapy Practitioner. Her journey in Healthcare started as a band 3 and she progressed to band 4 and now a band 5 role.

Chris - OT Apprenticeship

Chris talks about his journey from healthcare assistant to studying an occupational therapy apprenticeship degree and what he hopes to do in the future.

Perinatal Occupational Therapists

Jacqui Christopher, Band 7 Head Occupational Therapist in the Community Perinatal Team and Sue Neate, Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist in Thumbswood Mother and Baby Unit talk about the unique role of occupational therapy in supporting women who are experiencing mental health problems during the perinatal period.

Occupational Therapist - Band 7

Amanda started work in the Trust as a band 3 OT Assistant and progressed through the bands to Head Occupational Therapist. She was supported by the Trust to develop her skills and complete an OT degree to enable her to do this. The Trust now supports OT staff to attend the OT degree Apprenticeship run at the University of Hertfordshire.
