Safeguarding adults

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of all adults. Adult safeguarding can apply to anyone over the age of 18 years who:

  • has needs for care and support.
  • is being abused or is at risk of experiencing abuse or neglect.
  • who cannot protect themselves from abuse or neglect.

Everyone has the right to be safe, to be respected and to be heard. Everyone can play a part in making this happen. If you see something, say something – safeguarding is everybody’s business.

How to raise a concern about abuse and neglect

In an emergency you must dial 999 for the police and/or ambulance service.

For non-urgent situations of abuse or neglect, the service you need to contact depends on the area where the adult lives.
