Celebrating with an NHS 70th birthday song at HPFT
03 Jul 18 - 03 Jul 18
A song written to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS entitled, “We Will Overcome” was written by a nurse who coordinates the Trainee Nursing Associate Programme for Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT).
Kirstin Paisley-Pearce has been writing songs since she was a little girl and she’s also written other songs and children’s books as well as an educational film. She said: “I wrote the NHS song as I’m proud of being a nurse and think it’s a fantastic idea to celebrate the NHS with music.
The song is being used for Singing in the City - an initiative that is bringing together NHS workplace and community choirs to showcase their work to each other and the public in order to encourage new people to get involved in singing. Various choirs around the country will be performing We Will Overcome to commemorate NHS70.
Kirstin said: “I’m delighted to be associated with Singing in the City, which I hope will be a big success – it’s a really uplifting piece of music.”
