HPFT Receives Top Score for Safety!

The results of the 2018 NHS Staff Survey have been published today and we are proud to have achieved the best score for safety culture amongst mental health and learning disabilities trusts throughout the country.

NHS organisations across the country took part in the annual survey which asked staff for their views on ten key themes. Its findings are used to improve working conditions for staff and ultimately improve patient care. Over 1300 staff at HPFT took part in the confidential survey to share their views on what working at HPFT is like.

The Trust scored well above average in safety culture, appraisals, quality of care and staff engagement. It did particularly well in taking action on concerns raised by their service users, ensuring that their voice is heard and their feedback is used to continuously improve services.

Results also showed that the care of their service users is a top priority for the Trust and staff feel secure about raising any concerns.

With these great results, we also acknowledge the need to improve in other areas. An area we are focusing on improving over the next year is time pressures for staff and ensuring achievable goals are set to ensure high quality care for service users. The health and wellbeing of staff is another big focus along with improving support for staff experiencing bullying.

The safety of everyone who uses our services is our top priority and  the result reflects all the positive work our staff have been doing over the last year with regards to providing safe services and ensuring a real culture of safety.

I are particularly pleased with this year’s staff survey results especially as this past year has seen an even greater demand for our services. However, we know that we have more to do to help ensure our staff are supported and have the right tools so they can go on to deliver the highest standard of care for our service users.”
