Occupational Therapy Week comes to Hertfordshire
01 Nov 18 - 31 Oct 19
Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) is supporting Occupational Therapy Week 5-11 November - a campaign run by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. This year’s theme is “Securing the future of Occupational Therapy.”
Occupational Therapists (OTs) support people to ‘live life their way’ by helping to remove any barriers to their participation, despite any social, developmental, mental or physical health or care needs they may be living with in a number of ways including:
- rehabilitating people so they can remain in or return to work
- helping with adaptations to people’s homes and advising on strategies and techniques to help them live independently and safely
- intervening early to prevent situations deteriorating and becoming a crisis
A pledge tree is flourishing at the Colonnades in Hatfield, with pledges of support for the valuable contributions OTs make to the lives of our service users.
HPFT is sending out messages on social media throughout the week using the hashtags #ValueofOT #OTWeek2018. If you’ve been helped by an occupational therapist, please share your experiences by tweeting: 'I met an OT and now I can…' with the details to @HPFT_NHS.
