Dr Rashid Zaman receives Presidential Medal!

15 Dec 21

On 3 December 2021, HPFT consultant psychiatrist Dr Rashid Zaman had the prestigious honour of being presented with the Presidential Medal from the President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella. The Presidential Medal was received together with Professor Sandro Elisei, Director of Serafico Institute, Assisi, Italy, for the work of Serafico Institute of Assisi in addressing the health needs of people with disabilities in Italy.

The Presidential Medal was presented at the opening ceremony of the recent first Assisi- Cambridge International Conference - Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Disabilities and Neuroscience, an event jointly organised by Dr Zaman and Professor Elisei. This fantastic was event was staged following Professor Elisei’s attendance at the seventh Cambridge Biennial Conference in September 2019, where they both saw the huge scope and potential of their collaborative working.

And the results speak for themselves...!

Dr Zaman, who in addition to being a consultant psychiatrist with HPFT, is also the Director for the Centre for Mental Health Research in association with the University of Cambridge, said:

“I have been collaborating with Prof Elisei for few years and helping the Serafico Institute and its work receive the recognition that it deserves. The Presidential Medal came as a great surprise, and I feel truly honoured.”

The primary aim of Centre for Mental Health Research in Association with Cambridge University (CMHR-CU; formerly BCMHR-CU) is to foster collaborations between researchers/clinicians from both academic and non-academic backgrounds in subjects related to Psychiatry.
