Introducing Karen Taylor, HPFT's new Chief Executive Officer

01 Dec 21

We’re delighted to welcome Karen Taylor into her new role as the Chief Executive Officer of HPFT. Karen joined the Trust in 2012 and has held three Executive Director posts, most recently that of Deputy Chief Executive. She began her career in 1998 on the NHS Management Training Scheme and has a breadth of experience across the NHS, holding a number of senior roles including Director of Operations of an acute hospital trust and Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Chief Executive of a community services trust.

Reflecting on her new role, Karen said: “I feel hugely privileged and honoured to be HPFT’s Chief Executive. I believe everyone should be able to live their very best life, no matter their circumstances, background or illness and I am determined to support our teams to deliver high quality, safe care for those who need our support. We will do this by working in partnership with our colleagues across the NHS and social care, and by ensuring our service users and carers are at the heart of everything we do.”

Welcoming Karen into the role, Sarah Betteley, Chair of HPFT, said: “Karen’s commitment for providing high quality care, supporting our staff and her passion for getting things right for our service users and the wider communities we serve is something we are so lucky to have. I look forward to working closely with her as the Chief Executive Officer of the Trust.”

In her role as Chief Executive of HPFT, Karen is also the Joint Chair of the Hertfordshire Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism Collaborative.
