Ms Dinenage was given an overview of Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) and the services providing high quality care that supports and empowers individuals to recover and manage their mental and physical wellbeing.
Dr Jane Padmore, HPFT’s Executive Director of Quality and Safety and Chief Nurse said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Minister to our services, in particular to Dove Ward, giving us an opportunity to show her our excellent facilities and meet some of our staff and service users.
“We place service users at the heart of everything we do at HPFT and aim to prevent hospital admission whenever possible. If admission is necessary, we work in partnership with our service users and their carers to develop comprehensive care plans that focus on their individual needs and recovery.”
Minister for Care Caroline Dinenage said: “Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust's Outstanding rating is a tremendous achievement and is testament to the hard work of their brilliant staff.
"I had productive and timely discussions with staff about their work to reduce the use of restraint and cultivate a culture of transparency. Their focus is rightly on supporting people with learning disabilities or autism to remain in the community, but their Dove Ward is an excellent example of high quality inpatient care in a compassionate and therapeutic environment."
Dove Ward is located in Kingfisher Court which has state-of-the-art facilities. The ward is staffed by a team of dedicated health professionals, providing holistic mental and physical healthcare which focuses on recovery.
