We've been shortlisted for three 2019 HSJ Awards!

21 Aug 19 - 21 Aug 21

We are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for this year’s national Health Service Journal Awards (HSJ) awards in three categories:

  • Acute or Specialist Service Redesign Initiative Award - Our CAMHS Home Treatment Team
  • Community or Primary Care Service Redesign Award - Our Care Home Support Service by MHSOP South West Herts
  • Connecting Services and Information Award - Our Business Intelligence & Data warehouse.

Our Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director Keith Loveman said: “I’m really proud of our staff who continually come up with innovative ways of improving the quality of care we provide, in the face of ever-increasing demands for our services.

“It’s also great to see our Business Intelligence team receiving recognition for creating our slick new information platform. Its dashboard style is easy to read and use, enabling our staff to organise work more easily, based on what is most important to our service users, carers, staff and stakeholders.”

The judging panel, made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, have shortlisted HPFT in three categories despite the tough competition from hundreds of excellent applicants. Our shortlisted entries have been selected based on their ambition, visionary spirit and the demonstrable positive impact that they have had on service user and staff experiences.

CAMHS Home Treatment Team - shortlisted for the Acute or Specialist Service Redesign Initiative Award

The CAMHS Home Treatment Team is reducing hospital admissions and lengths of stay by providing intensive support in the community and in the comfort of their home environment whenever possible. Where a young person has needed to be admitted, the team works hard to discharge them as quickly as possible with a robust care and safety plan. The team has introduced emergency 72 hour, seven day and four week admissions, enabling the team to support the family through a shorter admission.

The Care Home Support Service by MHSOP South West Herts - shortlisted for the Community or Primary Care Service Redesign Award.

The Care Home Support Service by MHSOP South West Herts has resulted in a significant reduction in waiting times from an average of four weeks before to seven days for initial assessments and in the prescribing of antipsychotic medication. There is an improved knowledge and understanding of staff in care homes and more integrated working with GPs, care home staff, social care services and families, resulting in greater satisfaction and better outcomes for care home residents. This was achieved without any additional resources or funding.

The Business Intelligence & Data warehouse team - shortlisted for the Connecting Services to Information Award

HPFT’s new information platform SPIKE2 has revolutionised the way that data is used in frontline clinical practice. It has moved HPFT to dashboards and toolsets that allow staff, from frontline to executives, to evaluate performance in near real time. For the first time we can follow a service user’s journey across the entire process from referral to recovery through a single window.

The winners will be announced in November.
