The unit

Thumbswood has seven single bedrooms. Each bedroom is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, storage area and a baby's cot.  

The communal area features a lounge with television for relaxing and socialising, an open plan dining area and a kitchen in which hot drinks and snacks can be prepared.

There is a private garden which can be used at any time during the day. And there are private spaces for individual therapy and for visits from friends and family.

There is a separate milk kitchen for the preparation of milk feeds, sterilising of bottles and cupboards for storage of baby milk/food. This is situated next to the nursery which has baby changing stations and a baby bath. Our sensory room is used by mothers and babies and is equipped to provide either stimulation or relaxation through touch, sounds, colour and other visual features.
