Hertfordshire Mental Health Urgent Care Centre

The Hertfordshire Mental Health Urgent Care Centre is open and offers another option for those who are in a mental health crisis. 

The Centre is based at the Lister Hospital site (Glaxo building) in Stevenage and is staffed by a range of well-trained and knowledgeable professionals including consultants, psychiatrists, support workers and mental health nurses.

The team look after individuals aged 18 years and over and offer support 24 hours a day, 52 weeks of the year.

When they arrive, individuals will find a comfortable waiting room while they are waiting to be assessed. There are no beds and people cannot be admitted into the Centre. However, reclining seats and shower facilities are available.

Following an assessment, the team arrange the best ongoing support to suit the individuals’ needs whether this may be as an inpatient, through their GP, a crisis house or the community team. There are lots of support options available and a bespoke care plan is developed based on the individual.
