Primary Care – Mental Health Liaison Teams

The primary care mental health service in Hertfordshire works in GP surgeries to support adults who contact their GP with common mental health concerns.

The teams consist of staff including mental health nurses, social workers and occupational therapists.

We are able to see you in your local GP surgery and aim to put the support in place to prevent things from getting worse. We can assess you, direct you to support to help you and refer you to specialist services if that is needed.  We are also able to offer psychological and practical support and interventions.

To access mental health support, individuals must be aged 18 or older and be registered with a GP.  The primary care mental health team is not a crisis or urgent treatment service.

One of our local GPs talks about how our mental health staff support primary care services.
