Carers Rights Day, Recognising Your Rights

Carers Rights Day on the 20 November is a vital opportunity to raise awareness of the incredible work unpaid carers do, and to ensure they know the rights and support available to them.

This year’s theme, is “Recognising Your Rights,

Make sure you know and make Carers aware of:

  • The right to request a Carers Assessment and to receive support in their caring role
  • The right to Advocacy support in relation to a Carers Assessment
  • The right to be consulted when the person they care for is discharged from hospital
  • The right to ask the GP surgery to identify them as a carer
  • The right (and choice) to request a free flu vaccination
  • The right to Carers Allowance where eligible
  • The right to unpaid Carer’s Leave
  • The right to request flexible working
