Research and development
Welcome to the Research & Development Department (R&D)
Research in the NHS is vital to a better understanding of illness, and also to improving services. HPFT is a research active Trust and we encourage our service users to take part in NHS research. We support high quality research studies aimed at understanding and improving quality of life for people living with mental illness, learning disability and dementia.
Our research portfolio is strengthened by our formal partnership with The University of Hertfordshire (https://www.herts.ac.uk). Together we have been successful in securing approximately £2m worth of research grant funding over the last 7 years. HPFT is, also, part of the NIHR Eastern Clinical Research Network (https://www.nihr.ac.uk/nihr-in-your-area/eastern/). We receive support funding from Eastern CRN to help us deliver research that has been prioritised by the NHS.
The Research and Development (R&D) Department is based at the Colonnades, Hatfield. We deal with all aspects of R&D including governance, NHS permissions, study set-up, management and recruitment, grant submissions, costings, statistics, and publication.
