Celebrating Nursing Support Workers' Day

23 Nov 23

Today is Nursing Support Worker’s Day and an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the vital contribution our nursing support workforce makes within HPFT. They support teams, families, service users and carers and are instrumental in the day to day running of our services. They also help to shape the Trust values by being kind, professional, welcoming, positive and respectful.

Some of our Support Workers have shared why they enjoy their roles.

Abigail, Support Coordinator (Discharge): “I came into this role because I love to build independence in the lives of people. I like to create a positive impact in the lives of people with mental health issues.”

Ifelouwa, Senior Support Worker: “I love to help people to live their lives independently, encourage them to let them know their current condition is not the end and to motivate them to bounce back stronger and better.”

Samweul, Healthcare Support Worker: “I love to be involved in helping people through their recovery process. Everyone at some point needs help and I find it very interesting. I think teamwork is key and I believe I am a good support to my team.”

Alex, Healthcare Assistant:

“I started working as a Healthcare Assistant in Adult Community Mental Health Services. The team is absolute amazing and everyone is compassionate, helpful and takes the time to explain how things work and are happy to share their knowledge and experience. It is a pleasure to work with people who are great listeners and are constantly looking for improvements in the service. I like the general concern about the service user and their recovery and the willingness to ensure that they are getting the best care. It was my first job in the NHS and I didn't know what to expect, but there is so much training provided. I am able to shadow different professionals in initial assessments and it is such a great opportunity to learn, participating in multi disciplinary teams, referral reviews, team training and much more! It is a pleasure to be here!”
