NHS Service launches free Dealing with Depression webinar

27 Jul 21

The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) primary care mental health service in Hertfordshire and Mid Essex have launched a new innovative free online webinar to support residents dealing with low mood and depression.

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) provides access to talking therapy services in Hertfordshire and Mid Essex through a wide range of different treatments for adults with common mental health problems.

Depression is when someone feels low in mood and loses interest in day to day life, resulting in reduced energy and activity levels. You are not alone, so many of us experience depression at some point in our lives. Everyone experiences depression slightly differently, so managing low mood is easier if you can explore and understand your own situation, thoughts and behaviours.

‘Dealing with Depression’ is a free 1 hour webinar that looks at the experience of depression, and teaches you tools and techniques to help you understand your feelings and make a positive change. This webinar is facilitated by two trained and experienced CBT therapists.

Dr Ruth Schumacher, HPFT IAPT Digital Team Senior Clinician said: “Managing depression can be as simple as taking a short walk or changing your bedtime routine; it can include an exploration of thinking patterns and how this impacts what you feel emotionally . During this webinar we will introduce some ways to make changes and improve your mood”

The ‘Dealing with Depression’ webinar will be launching in August and a range of days and times are available to suit all needs. The first webinar will take place on Tuesday 10th August at 11am. Register online using the registration form: https://www.hpft-iapt.nhs.uk/resources-and-self-help/webinars/dealing-depression

Additional webinars and self-help videos are available on a range of topics including mindfulness, worry and sleep. These webinars have been designed to support your wellbeing, for more information please visit the services website: www.hpft-iapt.nhs.uk
