Pride progress flag-flying ceremony

On Thursday 1 June, HPFT were proud to be invited to a Pride progress flag-flying ceremony outside the Civic Offices in Borehamwood.

Representatives included the Mayor of Hertsmere, Councillor Chris Myers, Herts Fire and Rescue Service, Communities 1st, a representative of Herts Pride, councillors and council colleagues among others.  

Chris Myers, Mayor of Hertsmere and Clive Duffy from the Herts LGBTQ+ Network both gave speeches.

 

Mayor Cllr Myers talked about how he was proud to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community and that he was the first openly gay Mayor of Hertsmere.

Clive talked about Herts Pride (Saturday 19 August) which is held at Cassiobury Park in Watford and is known as being one of the best local Pride events. It started from an idea in 2013 and is this year expecting around 5000 visitors.
