HPFT launches helpline to support NHS and social care staff across Hertfordshire and an online resource library for all

14 Apr 20

The support helpline number: 0300 012 1101 will be open every day between 8am to 8pm.

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) in association with our Health and Social Care partners has today launched a new helpline for all Hertfordshire based NHS and social care staff who need emotional support during the coronavirus pandemic. The helpline is also supporting all HPFT staff. A coronavirus (COVID-19) online resource library has also been launched today which is available to all.

A team of dedicated psychologists from HPFT will provide telephone support in confidence, to help with emotional issues related to the current COVID-19 pandemic, such as stress, anxiety and other emotional consequences of the pandemic.

The *support line 0300 012 1101 will be open every day, between 8am and 8pm. Staff will be offered up to three telephone-based sessions. Alternatively, for those who feel they don’t need a telephone consultation, we have sourced a selection of online resources on our website. Our resource library includes links to general information and interactive resources, such as online CBT. It is available to all and would be useful for anyone who might be experiencing emotional problems, including NHS and social care staff: Click here for our resource library.

Andrew Nicholls, Head of Psychological Therapies at HPFT said;
“All of us working through this most challenging of times will be experiencing worry and fear regularly, we might also be struggling with our limitations and what that means.   Our telephone line offers staff space and time to talk about what is going on for them and to think about how best to cope with their challenges going forward."

Tom Cahill, CEO of HPFT said: “We recognise that this can be a very challenging and anxious time for colleagues working across our local health and care services. With this in mind I am very proud of my colleagues who have worked tirelessly over the last few days to get to get this service up and running. It is a service dedicated and designed for and accessible to all health and care staff across Hertfordshire. This service is for you, if you feel you need some support or even just space to talk then please do make the call or visit our resource library here and remember it is all confidential.”

*This helpline is open for everyone working in health and social care across Hertfordshire, as well as for employees of HPFT working in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Norfolk and Essex.
