LGBT+ History Month - HPFT's Chief Nurse shares a poem by a school friend

The theme of LGBT+ History Month this year is Poetry, Prose and Plays. In honour of this, HPFT's Executive Director for Quality and Safety and Chief Nurse Dr Jane Padmore is sharing a poem written by a school friend.

Jane said: "My friend wrote this poem for me, when we first met and he came out as gay. Sadly he ended his life by suicide in his early twenties."

Jane continued: "One in eight LGBT people aged 18-24 (13 per cent) said they’ve attempted to take their own life in the last year. (Stonewall).

"It's so important to make time to talk to each other. It starts with "How are you" and listening to the answer."
