Carers Week 2022

01 Jun 22

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older.

Sandra Brookes, Director of Service Delivery and Service User Experience shares her thoughts this Carers Week

Throughout the week the Trust's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service will be hosting free webinars which are completely confidential.

Carers in Herts Policy and Engagement Manager, Roma Mills commented:

"Every year, Carers Week is a great opportunity to support people who are caring for a relative or friend who couldn't manage without their help.  We believe that unpaid carers and the challenges of caring should be recognised in all areas of life. Caring should be valued and respected by everyone in our society and carers should have access to the information and support they need, where and when they need it.

"Carers in Herts works closely with HPFT and to celebrate this year's Carers Week theme: 'Making caring, visible, valued and supported' we have planned a series of events including a walk, online quiz night, cream tea, listening to carers event and a wide range of sessions including two HPFT webinars for carers to help them to think about their own health and wellbeing.
