“Our values are the glue that hold us together as an organisation.”

HPFT Chair Sarah Betteley stands at the lectern addressing the room at the AGM

This was said by Karen Taylor, HPFT Chief Executive at our Trust AGM and it is true that our values – being welcoming, professional, kind, positive and respectful - and our aim to put service users at the heart of everything we do, make us a Trust to be proud of.

As a Trust, we want to provide you with the best care to support your mental health and those living with learning disabilities and autism. At our AGM, Karen reflected on how the voice of service users and carers underpin everything that we do.

Karen spoke about our ambitious five-year strategy, Great Together, and the work that is going on to move this forward. From the strides we are making in research to better understand barriers to access for certain groups to the generation of a culture of innovation and improvement. She highlighted the growth of our mental health support teams in schools and how we are embracing partnerships which are resulting in exciting services such as Cherry Tree Cottage.

Colleagues from Cherry Tree Cottage, a new residential home for young people with complex mental health needs, which we deliver in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council, spoke about some of the success stories of young people who have been supported there since its opening less than a year ago. We also heard from our Learning Disabilities team in Essex who shared the story of one man and all of the different professionals who have been involved over a number of years to support him from a difficult place in his life where he refused to wash, dress, eat or leave his room, to one where he is now thriving and happy.

Our Chief Finance Officer, Phil Cave, presented the accounts and our Chief Strategy Officer, David Evans, talked about HPFT's plans for the coming year.

A question and answer session concluded the AGM.
