Electric Umbrella light up Britain’s Got Talent stage

07 May 25

Service users supported by HPFT’s learning disability services were delighted to receive the golden buzzer from the Britain's Got Talent judges.

The group were performing an original song with Electric Umbrella – a vibrant community dedicated to empowering learning-disabled and neurodivergent people through music, creativity and connection.

A large group of people, many in yellow clothing or accessories, on a stage. Two people are holding large yellow flags with black stripes.

Their upbeat song and dance moves had the audience on their feet with a standing ovation from the whole auditorium and the four judges.

Speaking after the performance, Head Judge, Simon Cowell said:

“I feel a wave of goodness here. Everything about this is good – what it stands for and what you did. For me it is like being in a movie. It was just spectacular. The only downside is that I don’t have any golden buzzers left. However...” Simon then went on to press his golden buzzer, sending the group straight through to the semi-finals.

A group of people, including children and adults, celebrating on a stage with gold confetti falling around them.

Kate Senior, West SLDS Service Manager said:

“It was wonderful to see some of the service users we have supported performing with Electric Umbrella.
“We have supported a number of them when they have needed help with confidence building, relationship and mental health support when times might be a bit more of a challenge. We have also helped them from an adult social care perspective including community nursing.

“I feel so happy to see that some of the support we have given them has helped them have the confidence to take on these fantastic opportunities in the community. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes them next.”

Congratulations to Electric Umbrella!
