Sweet success at Forest House

18 Aug 25

A bake sale at Forest House Adolescent Unit turned into a brilliant opportunity for young people to build confidence and learn new skills together.

Three female members of staff are smiling and holding cookies to the camera. One is in a red top with sunglasses and the others are in black tops. They are standing outside with a building behind them.

Assistant Therapy Practitioner, Labby and OT Apprentice, Kother, recently teamed up with one of the young people to organise a bake sale as part of a therapeutic intervention. Over three weeks, they worked together to achieve short-term goals such as designing posters, choosing ingredients, practicing baking and finally running a successful sale where they sold lots of fantastic sweet treats to staff.

What began as a motivational goal for one individual grew into something much bigger as other young people on the unit also joined in, helping to bake and sell cookies too.

Together, the young people raised £50, which they used to go pottery painting as a well earned reward for all their hard work.

Occupational Therapist Hannah Bailey, says:

“The wonderful work of our young people, supported by Labby and Kother, has not only impacted the young person intended so positively but has had a positive impact on the Forest House culture. It brought together the ward as a community, sparking intrigue in other young people and allowing staff to appreciate and share in the talents of the young people. Thank you, Labby and Kother, for driving this wonderful intervention!”
