‘It’s ok to ask’ – #MedSafetyWeek2024

04 Nov 24

Do you ever ask about the medications you are prescribed? Or, do you simply take what you are given without question? Have you ever stopped taking a medicine prescribed for you because you are worried about side effects?

This #MedSafetyWeek2024 focuses on the importance of using medicines in the right way to prevent side effects, and to report side effects when they do occur.

If you are taking medication, one of the best things you can do is make sure you understand what is going on with your health. That way, you will be able to make better decisions about your care and treatment and why it is important to ask your healthcare team the right questions.

The ‘It’s ok to ask’ campaign can help you be informed and to ask the right questions.

The sort of questions you might ask are: What are the benefits of my treatment? What are the risks of my treatment? Are there any alternative treatments I can try? What happens if I do nothing?
