HPFT Chief Nursing Officer inducted into American Academy of Nursing

11 Nov 24

We are so proud that HPFT’s Chief Nursing Officer, Dr Emma Wadey, has been inducted at the American Academy of Nursing as one of their 2024 Fellows.

Emma attended a ceremony in Washington DC and was inducted in recognition of her contribution to mental health nursing and the prevention of nurse suicide.

The American Academy of Nursing is an organisation in which its members, referred to as Fellows, are chosen through a competitive nomination process. The Fellows work together to generate and share their nursing knowledge, working towards the advancement of health policies.

Every year, a new cohort of nurse leaders are inducted, who are recognised for producing positive changes in health, both locally and globally. There are currently over 3,000 Fellows inducted at the Academy.

Emma is one of only 5 nurses from the United Kingdom inducted this year – she is the only mental health nurse and one of only 30 nurses ever from the UK.

Emma has shared her thoughts:

“What an honour to be inducted… I’ve had the rare opportunity to hear and meet outstanding nurses from across the world, whose contributions and influence have shaped communities and countries. I’m inspired and ready for action!”
