A new campaign is shining a spotlight on the emotional challenges faced by people living with Type 2 Diabetes, encouraging those experiencing stress, low mood, or anxiety to seek help through Hertfordshire and Mid Essex Talking Therapies.

Living with a long term physical health condition like Type 2 Diabetes can impact many aspects of daily life. Whether someone is newly diagnosed or has been managing the condition for years, it is common to feel overwhelmed. Research shows that people with diabetes are twice as likely to experience depression compared to those without the condition.

To address this, Hertfordshire and Mid Essex Talking Therapies offers support from specially trained therapists who understand the emotional impact of living with diabetes. The service helps individuals manage their condition more effectively by reducing stress, improving emotional wellbeing, and supporting a more balanced lifestyle.

As part of the campaign, a webinar with a focus on Type 2 Diabetes is also available, offering further guidance and support.

Tania Marques, Long Term Conditions Deputy Clinical Lead for the service, said: “By fostering open conversations about emotional wellbeing and long term conditions, we can create a supportive community where individuals feel empowered to seek the help they need.”
