This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and our Mental Health Support teams who work in schools, along with our colleagues who work with children and young people, will be out in the community and sharing important messages about mental health and wellbeing.

This year’s theme is ‘Know Yourself Grow Yourself’ and is based on the emotions featured in the movies Inside Out and Inside Out 2.

Each day, our teams will be out visiting schools across Hertfordshire and looking at the emotions of joy, disgust, anger, fear and sadness-what these emotions mean and how to manage them.

Activities will include mindful breathing workshops, creating gratitude trees and joyful jars. Anger will be recognised with cool down cards and stress balls whereas disgust will look at creating boundaries and include a fun and safe food tasting challenge and teach that understanding what you like, or dislike, helps you respect yourself and others.

The week will culminate with an event at the Asda Superstore in Hatfield where the teams will be on hand to discuss mental wellbeing and managing emotions with a range of fun activities.

Keep an eye out on our newly launched Trust Instagram account where we will be sharing ideas for activities you can do with your children or those you care for to help manage their emotions.
