Service users capture the seasons in photographs

13 Feb 26

Service users and staff across our Rehabilitation Services in Hertfordshire have been photographing the natural world around them, and together they have turned their creative project into a beautiful calendar for 2026.

Bright orange poppies growing between paving stones and along the base of two brick walls in a sunny courtyard corner.   Sunrise view of Tower Bridge and the Shard across the River Thames, with soft orange light in the sky and boats moored in the foreground behind a white railing.
The idea grew from the ‘nature prescribing’ pilot project run with the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds).  Hoping to involve more people in the project, the team noticed how many service users and staff liked photography and saw an opportunity to bring the two ideas together.

Last winter, Selina Farmer, Head Occupational Therapist for Rehabilitation Services, invited staff and service users to take pictures of elements of nature they enjoyed seeing and wanted to share.

Staff and service users met to look through the photographs, with everyone choosing their favourites and a winning image was selected for each month.

The collection reflects the changing seasons captured by talented HPFT staff and service users.
