The award highlights the amazing support and encouragement the team provides to student nurses during their placements with the team.

The University of East Anglia gathers feedback from all students after their placements. The award judges said: ‘Jo Bird (Team Leader) always goes out of her way to support student nurses and make them feel welcome & valued, regardless of their field of practice. Many students feel apprehensive at the start of a placement and Jo and the team make exceptional efforts to put students at ease.’

The award reflects the kindness and support that make a real difference for students starting their nursing journeys.

Dr Emma Wadey, Chief Nursing Officer at HPFT said:

"Congratulations Jo and team, I am so pleased that your hard work has been recognised. It’s so important that we nurture the next generation."

One student described their experience with the team: "It is such a lovely team and I felt very welcomed throughout my placement. My opinions and views were listened to and staff were able to delegate tasks for me to complete, including me within their case load work for service users. I feel valued as part of the team, getting involved in community visits and assessments.”
