“Recovery” – what does this really mean when it comes to mental health?

HPFT is inviting the public to attend its 19th Annual Recovery Conference, taking place on 11 September at Robertson House in Stevenage. The free event is open to anyone living in Hertfordshire and aims to celebrate stories of recovery while exploring how relationships play a central role in mental health and wellbeing.

Recovery is a powerful idea that has been changing lives since the 1980s. It started with a global group of people who had experienced mental health challenges and came together to form the Recovery Movement. Their message was simple: everyone deserves the right to be heard, to shape their own journey, and to believe that recovery — even from the toughest situations — is possible.

HPFT’s Recovery Conference has long been a space for honest conversations, powerful personal stories, and shared learning. This year’s theme, “Let’s connect – it’s all about relationships,” reflects a renewed focus on the importance of human connection in the recovery journey.

As part of our Trust strategy - Great Together - we are refreshing our Recovery approach. This includes a new Recovery & Leadership course in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and a webinar on Personal Recovery which is now available to service users.

The conference will feature a range of speakers and workshops, all co-produced and co-presented with those who have lived experience, offering attendees the opportunity to hear diverse perspectives and engage in meaningful dialogue.
