Creating safe, supportive environments: HPFT’s Safety Strategy launched

01 Dec 25

The Trust has launched its new Safety Strategy, setting out a clear plan for the next five years to ensure that everyone who uses our services – and those who care for them – feel safe and supported.

Front page of HPFT’s Safety Strategy document for 2025–2030. The design features three images showing staff and individuals engaged in collaborative activities and discussions. Large yellow text reads “Safety Strategy,” with smaller text below stating “2025 – 2030” and the tagline “Listen – Learn – Innovate” in blue. The NHS logo is in the top right corner. At the bottom right, HPFT's values are listed: “Welcoming, Kind, Positive, Respectful, Professional.” The bottom left displays the phrase “as one” alongside an illustration of three colourful kites.

Safety is central to HPFT’s Great Together vision, which commits to putting people who need our care, support, and treatment at the heart of everything we do. This new strategy turns that vision into action.

Safety is about more than avoiding harm. It’s about creating environments and communities where people feel safe, respected, and cared for. It means listening to the voices of those who use our services and their families – because they are the experts in their own care. It also means ensuring our staff have the tools, resources, and support they need to deliver outstanding care.

Meaningful improvements in health require strong partnerships – across health and social care teams, with community organisations, and most importantly, with the individuals and families who use our services.

The strategy has been shaped by over 1,500 contributions from service users, carers, staff, and partners who share our commitment to safety and we are extremely thankful for their support.
