The Trust were proud to host a showcase event for its innovative simulation training facility.

This is a purpose-built training hub where staff and external partners can practise real-life clinical scenarios in a safe, controlled environment.

The event highlighted how simulation based education is supporting safe, high quality care across mental health, physical health and learning disability services. Attendees experienced a live simulation and debrief, demonstrating how staff can build skills, confidence and teamwork in a realistic but safe learning environment.

It was attended by staff from various NHS trusts’ whose roles covered areas including service delivery, effectiveness, quality, patient safety, education and improvement.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with attendees praising the powerful hands on experience and honest debriefs. They also expressed how valuable it was to hear from Experts by Experience.

“The debrief was really honest, informative and felt a really safe space.”

“That was incredibly powerful… it totally flipped my understanding of simulation training.”

The simulation training facility is helping HPFT strengthen a culture of learning and continuous improvement, with plans to work with partners to share this approach more widely.

The showcase was part of the NHS IMPACT Learning improvement network facilitated by NHS England. It was an opportunity for the Trust to share its experience and inspire others within their own organisations.
