HPFT team shares expertise at global psychiatry congress in Prague

05 Nov 25

Two members of our Adult Community Mental Health Service team recently represented HPFT on the international stage at the 25th World Psychiatric Association Congress in Prague.

Adaugo Riok, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Dr Astri Ayu, Specialty Doctor, presented a research poster titled Depression severity, quality of life, and treatment satisfaction of patients under the depression pathway in Adult Community Mental Health Service. Their abstract was featured as an e-poster which delegates could read throughout the event.

Two people standing beside an e-poster station with a large screen displaying charts and text. A blue sign next to the screen reads “E-Poster Station 8” and includes the logo for the World Congress of Psychiatry.

Adaugo shared:

“It was an honour to represent HPFT alongside Dr Ayu at such a prestigious event. The Congress brought together mental health professionals, academics and researchers from around the world. I was proud to see our work displayed among so many innovative projects in psychiatry and mental health care.”

Adaugo also noted the importance of nursing voices in research:

“As a nurse interested in research myself, I noticed how few nurses were in attendance. It reminded me how vital it is for us to be part of academic discussions. Our perspective is key to shaping holistic, patient-centred care.”

The Congress showcased exciting developments in digital innovation, neuroscience and personalised treatment.
