Specialist Learning Disability Service achieves national accreditation

17 Jul 26

The Hertfordshire Specialist Learning Disability Service (SLDS) is celebrating a significant achievement after successfully gaining accreditation through the Quality Network for Learning Disability (QNLD).

Certificate of Accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Quality Network for Learning Disability Services (QNLD), confirming Hertfordshire Specialist Learning Disability Service is accredited from 14 May 2026 to 12 February 2029.

QNLD is a national accreditation programme run by the Royal College of Psychiatrists that supports learning disability services to improve management processes and standards of care. Services are assessed against a range of standards that demonstrate their commitment to providing safe, effective and person-centred support.

As part of the accreditation process, the team submitted extensive evidence which included feedback and compliments from service users, families and carers, person-centred care planning and the use of visual resources to make information more accessible. They also shared how the team uses digital technology for appointments for service users and their families ensuring that visuals are used when needed.

Kate Senior, Service Manager for West SLDS and Susan Archer, Service Manager for the East and North SLDS, added: "This accreditation is a fantastic accolade for the whole team. Everyone worked extremely hard to meet the standards and showcase the excellent care we provide. We are very proud of what has been achieved together."
