27 Aug 24

We were delighted to welcome Chief Nursing Officer for England, Duncan Burton to visit our Trust. During his visit, Duncan met with Sandra Brookes (Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive for HPFT), Emma Wadey (Chief Nurse) and a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, Allied Health Professionals and support staff across our mental health and learning disability teams who work exceptionally hard every day to support service users and their families.

Emma Wadey, Chief Nurse at HPFT said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to introduce some of our amazing staff, highlight our progress against our ambitious five-year Great Together strategy, showcase some of the improvements underway and to talk through some of the challenges facing services today. It was really good to hear Duncan’s passion for education and development of mental health and learning disability nurses and the understanding of the role that leaders play in enabling a kind and compassionate workforce.”

Duncan Burton, Chief Nursing Officer for England, said: “It was a pleasure to meet mental health and learning disability nursing colleagues, Allied Health Professionals and support colleagues from across the Trust and learn more about the specialist care and support they provide to service users and their families.

“It was also great to hear about some of the support available to help colleagues develop in their roles and to meet student nurses from the University of Hertfordshire who were on placement at the Trust. Thank you to all those I met for sharing your experiences with me.”
