Improving the culture of inpatient mental health, learning disability and autism wards

20 Aug 24

Delivering a culture of care was at the heart of a workshop facilitated by the Royal College of Psychiatrists at our head office.

The Culture of Care Programme is part of NHS England’s Quality Transformation Programme and colleagues from three wards (Forest House, Owl and Wren) attended the first coaching workshop.

The aim of NHS England’s Quality Transformation Programme is to improve the culture of inpatient mental health, learning disability and autism wards for service users and staff so that they are safe, therapeutic and equitable places to be cared for, and fulfilling places to work.

For the next two years, the Royal College of Psychiatrists will be supporting HPFT with the Culture of Care programme and help to identify areas where they can make changes and improve the culture in their wards, and support them in making those identified changes happen.
