HPFT clinical director recognised as Mental Health Professional of the Year

We are delighted to share the outstanding achievement of Dr Shaheen Shora, Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director of our Specialist Services Division.

Dr Shora has been named ‘Mental Health Professional of the Year’ at the inaugural British Muslim Health Awards. This award recognises her dedication, compassionate leadership and commitment to improving outcomes for service users. It also highlights her sustained contribution to charitable work, including initiatives that strengthen access to care for underserved communities and support healthcare delivery in developing countries.

Dr Shora currently serves as an Equity Champion for the Royal College of Psychiatrists, is an executive committee member of the Old Age Faculty, and leads older age and dementia research here at HPFT. In 2023, she was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists for her contributions to mental health services, education, training, and research.

Reflecting on her award, Dr Shora said:

“I was honoured and humbled to receive this award. I attribute the success to the constant encouragement and unconditional love of my parents, the unwavering support of my husband, the guidance of my mentors and colleagues, and the support of my family and close friends in the UK and Kashmir, India.”
