Support for people with mental health and substance use needs

03 Jun 26

HPFT and Change Grow Live (CGL SPECTRUM) have launched a new Joint Working Protocol to improve support for people with both mental health and substance use needs.

Sarah Damms and Katy Healy from HPFT and Trudy Sealy and Lorna Brown from CGL SPECTRUM stand side by side indoors, wearing ID lanyards and smart clothing, posing for a group photo in front of a plain wall.

It sets a clear commitment to ensure that people are not passed between teams and receive consistent and compassionate care focussed on their needs. The approach brings services closer together, recognising that these needs are often linked and should be treated in a joined-up way.

At a launch event, attended by colleagues from HPFT and CGL SPECTRUM, discussions included examples of strong partnership working already in place and how to improve access, shared decision-making and collaboration between teams.

This approach aims to improve engagement and deliver more holistic care, leading to better outcomes for service users. The focus now is embedding this way of working into everyday practice across Hertfordshire.
