PNA team celebrates success

13 Dec 24

Our Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) Team have been celebrating recently after three of our PNA’s (Ayesha Gadher, Victoria Louise Sharman and Fiona Shiperlee) had an article published on the 'Benefits and challenges of implementing the professional nurse advocate programme: a service evaluation' by the RCNi. To top it off, it was also highlighted as the Editor’s choice!

The PNA programme is designed to equip nurses with the skills to provide restorative clinical supervision – supporting nurses with the challenges and emotional effects of their work as well as their education and development needs.

The study looked at the effects of introducing a PNA programme in a mental health and learning disability Trust. Through trust records, evaluation of supervision and a PNA experience survey questionnaire, it found that sessions with PNA’s primarily supported staff wellbeing and retention.

It highlighted how rewarding the PNA’s find the sessions and the importance of ensuring protected time and further development such as a continuing professional development programme for PNA’s.
