Support available for carers during Carers Week (Monday 10 – Sunday 16 June)

04 Jun 24

Carers Week is dedicated to raising awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face and recognising the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

There are a number of events being held to support carers throughout the week. Please find information and links to what is available below.

Monday 10 June, 1pm-4pm

HPFT event: Unpaid carers: Coffee, cake and a chat with carers

This is an opportunity to share your experience as a carer in a relaxed environment to help improve services. The person you look after can also join and you will have the chance to share the barriers you have faced when trying to access HPFT services or using HPFT services as a carer. There will be information stalls including One Vision, New Leaf Recovery and Wellbeing College and Carers in Hertfordshire, as well as information on what else is available to you as an unpaid carer. Refreshments will be available.

The event will take place at HPFT, The Colonnades, Beaconsfield Road, Hatfield, AL10 8YE. To RVSP and for more information about this event email: hpft.carers@nhs.net

Wednesday 12 June, 6pm-7pm

Hertfordshire and Mid Essex Talking Therapies are hosting a webinar.
Carers: Managing Difficult Emotions and Building Resilience

The webinar looks at the complex and sometimes painful emotions which can accompany the caring role. It recognises that caring can be a gradual and unexpected challenge, bringing some reward but also resentment, guilt, grief and loss.

The webinar provides several tools for building emotional resilience and includes a relaxing experiential exercise. It includes information about the support offered by Hertfordshire and Mid Essex Talking Therapies for anyone interested in engaging more closely with the team.
