NHS Hertfordshire Talking Therapies Service for Anxiety and Depression has once again been recognised nationally as a high-quality mental health service after achieving re-accreditation through the Royal College of Psychiatrists and British Psychological Society’s Accreditation Programme for Psychological Therapy Services (APPTS).

The free and confidential NHS service, available to Hertfordshire residents aged 16 and over, received accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Combined Committee for Accreditation following a rigorous 6 month assessment process.

The accreditation recognises the service’s commitment to delivering safe, effective and high-quality care for people experiencing common mental health problems. During the review, the service was assessed against a wide range of standards, including clinical outcomes, safety of the service, effectiveness of treatments, degree of responsiveness to patient need and compassionate care, leadership and service user involvement.

Kate Spokes, Head of Service for Hertfordshire Talking Therapies, said:

“We are delighted to have achieved re-accreditation, which reflects the hard work and commitment of our team in providing a robust and high-quality service for our service users.

“The rigorous accreditation process lasted 6 months and involved providing a wide range of evidence about the service we deliver, including direct feedback from people who have used our service.”

In addition to achieving re-accreditation, the service was also awarded a Sustainability Accreditation Certificate after achieving 100% compliance against the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ sustainability standards.

In feedback provided following the assessment, the accreditation team praised the service’s continued high performance during both the current and previous APPTS accreditation reviews, commending staff on “another great achievement of re-accreditation”.

The accreditation reflects the dedication and professionalism of the entire Hertfordshire Talking Therapies team and their ongoing commitment to providing the best possible care for service users across the county.
