HPFT shortlisted for two national HSJ Awards

HPFT are proud to be shortlisted for two national HSJ Awards , recognising work that is improving care, safety and access for people who use our services.

Patient Safety Award

The Trust has been shortlisted in the Patient Safety Award category for “Positive Steps Together”, a co-produced safety framework developed across our specialist inpatient learning disability services in Hertfordshire, Essex and Norfolk.

The programme supports the continued development of high-quality care through a focus on strong therapeutic relationships, a reflective and learning culture and multidisciplinary team development, helping to strengthen safety, improve service user experience and support recovery.

The work has also contributed to wider service improvements and was recognised during a January 2026 Care Quality Commission inspection, where our learning disability services were rated Outstanding.

Data-Driven Transformation Award

HPFT has also been shortlisted for the Data-Driven Transformation Award for “Faster Access to Psychiatrists”, our Perinatal Team’s innovative quality improvement project improving timely access to psychiatric care in our community services.

The project is helping pregnant and postnatal women with mental health conditions receive more timely expert clinical support from our Hertfordshire Community Perinatal Team. Through co-production, data and quality improvement, the team has further strengthened how care is planned and delivered, supporting a safe and positive experience for women, babies and families.

The East of England Provider Collaborative is also shortlisted for Mental Health Innovation of the Year for “Reducing Inpatient Care in Adult Eating Disorders through Regional Alternatives to Admission.” The collaborative involves HPFT and five other specialist mental health and learning disability providers working together to improve care across the region.

The HSJ Awards celebrate some of the best work happening across healthcare, with a focus on projects making a real difference for people and communities.

The winners will be announced at the HSJ Awards ceremony at Evolution London on 19 November 2026.
