Forest House rated ‘Good’ following latest CQC inspection

05 Feb 26

Forest House Adolescent Unit in Radlett has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its most recent inspection.

“A quiet garden area with a small stone fountain, a wooden bench, and a red‑brick single‑storey building in the background on a misty day.”

The report highlighted the high quality care being provided and how young people are treated with kindness, compassion and respect.  The CQC’s report gives detail about the proactive and positive culture of safety and a strong commitment to continuous learning and innovation.

The service, run by Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT), provides specialist inpatient care and treatment for young people aged 13 to 18. The 14 bed unit supports young people with a range of mental health needs, including three dedicated beds for those with eating disorders.

Karen Taylor, Chief Executive at HPFT, said:

“We are delighted that Forest House has been rated as ‘Good’ following the recent inspection, recognising the quality of care and support in place for young people on the unit.

“We are particularly proud that young people told inspectors they felt safe on the ward and described staff as available when they needed support. They shared how they felt involved in their care and treatment, particularly during ward rounds and able to share their views in community meetings.

“We were also delighted with the positive feedback from carers who applauded the quality of care, staff professionalism and information they received about treatment approaches, saying they felt included in key decisions, such as discharge planning and leave arrangements.”

The CQC’s overall findings reflect the Trust’s ongoing approach to embedding best practice and listening to people about what matters to them, to support the delivery of high quality, person-centred care.
